Going Green?
I’ve been talking a lot lately about going green! A while back I posted about a book that I recently had the opportunity to review at A Frog In My Soup one of the main ideas throughout the book is what a huge difference even one small change can make.
The most amazing thing that has come out of reading Gorgeously Green (by Sophie Uliano) is the fact that every decision I make while shopping is checked carefully. If they offer an organic version of the product I’m more likely to pick that up now. Especially fruit!
The last time I was at the grocery store I picked up a bag of organic apples because they happened to be near me at the moment and I was still in the middle of reading the book, so I figured “why not?”. We love apples around here and our biggest favorite is Braeburn apples. The next day I cut one up to share with my little ones and I honestly was surprised by how much more flavor there was.
Maybe it was a fluke … maybe not! I have heard that much of the organic produce purchased probably won’t taste that much different. Some of it will have a little more flavor and some taste a little fresher, so my experience was a bit of a surprise to me!
The trend toward making “greener” choices in life is becoming overwhelmingly popular. I thought it was just me, but it obviously isn’t. Between the issues with the hormones being found in plastics and lead in our children’s toys and pesticides in our food consumers are making overwhelmingly positive changes in their choices when they purchase.
Are you going green? What change(s) have you made recently?
