Playtex Baby
I recently was a little surprised to find that a PR representative for Platex Infant Care had emailed me to let me know that their products are going BPA Free! With all of the terrible things we are hearing about BPA and it’s effects on the human body (not to mention the earth) I was thrilled to hear it. For more detailed information about it they have created a website at: http://www.playtexbaby.com/bpafree/info.html.
This site also offers a sample of their Playtex Drop Ins. Beginning in early May the products they offer that are BPA free will be clearly marked on the packaging! Here’s their Press release on going BPA free:
Playtex® Offers Free Non-BPA Baby Bottles to Parents, Will Stop Using BPA in All Products This Year, Company Offers Free Playtex® Drop-Ins® Original Nurser Systems
Westport, CT (April 18, 2008) – Today Playtex® Infant Care, a division of Energizer® Personal Care, the leader in infant care, addressed growing public confusion about plastics used in baby bottles by announcing it will distribute one million free samples of Playtex® Drop-Ins® Original Nurser Systems, which are free of bisphenol A, a chemical used to manufacture polycarbonate plastic products. Playtex® currently offers over 80 SKUs of feeding and soothing products that are BPA-free. It also announced that the balance of the product line will be converted to BPA-free material by year end.
“We know recent news coverage has created significant confusion about the use of BPA in plastic baby products,” said Gary Cohen, vice president and general manager Playtex®, Energizer® Personal Care Division. “While U.S. and worldwide regulatory bodies continue to deem the ingredient safe, as a leader in infant care products, we are listening to consumer concerns and we believe the right thing to do is eliminate any confusion or doubt that parents may have. For this reason, we will stop using BPA in our products this year and we are offering consumers a chance to immediately switch to BPA-free infant products.”
BPA is used in only a few Playtex® products; the company offers a broad selection of BPA-free infant bottles, pacifiers and cups. In bottles, the Playtex® Drop-Ins® Nurser system uses disposable Playtex® Drop-Ins® liners that are made of polyethylene and are BPA-free. All Playtex® bottle nipples and pacifiers (including Ortho-Pro® and Binky®) are BPA-free. In cups, the Playtex® Sipster®, Insulator®, Coolster®, Quick Straw® are all BPA-free.
